One of the key changes we wanted to see happen as part of our Time to Breathe campaign (launched in March 2019) was for the UK Government to adopt World Health Organisation (WHO) exposure limits for air pollutants. This would improve air quality for outdoor workers and reduce the burden of disease from stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and both chronic and acute respiratory diseases.

We have been working with MPs to support this change and there is now a direct opportunity to see it achieved.

It means we need your support for an amendment to the Environment Bill currently being considered by Parliament. You can confirm your support by writing to your MP asking them to vote for changes in the law to ensure enforceable air quality limits are in place from as early as January 2021.

Here is a campaign letter ready for you to use, or adapt, to be sent to your MP (this has been produced by a group of MPs with an interest in air pollution).

You can find the email address of your MP online. See here. Remember to insert their name at the start, sign and send.

Thanks for your support. If you have any questions, please contact Stephen Cooke, Head of Policy and Communications.
