As a not for profit organisation, every penny we make goes back into ensuring that workers are safe. We do this by offering a wide variety of training and audit and consultancy services to support organisations of all sizes, anywhere in the world. We also lobby governments to improve standards for workers and aim to ensure as many organisations as possible have access to the right information and tools to keep their workers healthy and safe.

According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), globally, each year, 2.3 million men and women die from work related accidents or illness. There are about 340 million accidents at work and around 160 million victims of work-related illness annually around the world.

British Safety Council believes that no one should be injured or made ill through their work. With over 60 years’ experience, we are in a unique position to offer a holistic and joined up approach to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace. Health, safety and wellbeing at work is a journey and we aim to be there with organisations every step of the way, supporting them on the road to excellence.

A fit, healthy, happy and motivated workforce is key to business success, and workers are less likely to have accidents or become ill if their wellbeing is prioritised. Recently, British Safety Council introduced a unique new health, safety and wellbeing programme, Being Well Together, to help employers support their employees thrive wherever their workplace is.

Organisations can also demonstrate their commitment to health and safety by becoming a member of British Safety Council, where they will gain access to industry leading health and safety advice. Members receive a special, internationally recognised British Safety Council logo and a certificate to display to their workers and partners, showing their commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

As part of membership, organisations also receive free access to a wide selection of digital health, safety and wellbeing courses for their staff. These courses have been developed by industry leading consultants and put together by experts in education, to ensure that knowledge retention is maximised through impactful and engaging material.

British Safety Council also publishes the monthly, industry leading Safety Management magazine for members to access. It offers a wealth of current health, safety and wellbeing resources and information to help them keep up to date with relevant news and legislation in the industry.

Organisations who demonstrate excellence in health, safety and wellbeing throughout the year can apply for British Safety Council International Safety Awards. This provides an ideal opportunity for organisations of all sizes across the world, to celebrate their successes, both locally and internationally, while showing their commitment to high health, safety and wellbeing standards.

The Sword and Globe of Honour awards celebrate and reward those organisations that have reached the pinnacle of health, safety and environmental management. Organisations from around the world who have achieved the top grade in their Five Star Audit, are invited to apply for these prestigious and internationally recognised awards.

To demonstrate our commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, British Safety Council has given away thousands of resources to organisations across the globe, to support them through the challenges of the current pandemic. We continue to evolve and develop our products and services, to ensure that they are relevant and up to date, supporting organisations on their journey to health, safety and wellbeing excellence.
